Granite Falls provides a rural living environment for people who prefer living outside the growing urban areas in Snohomish County. First settled in 1884, the City now has a population of 4,490 people, with an estimated population of 11,000 in the immediate outlying area of the town. Granite Falls is the Gateway to the Mountain Loop, known for many outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, camping, and sledding, among other activities.
Located in the central point of Snohomish County, the City is situated between the South fork of the Stillaguamish River and the Pilchuck River, at the base of Mount Pilchuck. It lies approximately 17 miles northeast of Everett and I-5. State Route 92 meets the main thoroughfare into town and passes onto the beautiful Mountain Loop Highway, the Gateway to the Cascade Mountains. The Mountain Loop Highway is Snohomish County’s only access to the North Cascade Loop. Our City is 360 feet above sea level, and the outlying area is home to many large quarry operations employing many people. The area is one of the fastest-growing in Snohomish County, with hundreds of new housing units being built and a growing variety of businesses catering to the community. Despite this growth, however, Granite Falls retains the feel of a small boutique town with a country atmosphere, a neighborly attitude, and friendly people.
